York is an American HVAC brand (part of Johnson Controls) better known in Malaysia for larger ducted and commercial systems than for budget wall splits. In the residential wall-split market it sits mid-tier and is less common than the Japanese and Chinese brands. Where York is strong is ducted and cassette systems in commercial and larger residential settings. If you run York ducted or cassette units, servicing is best done by people who handle that system type, which we do.

On York wall splits the faults are the ordinary ones, capacitors, fan motors, gas leaks and drainage. On York ducted and cassette systems the common issues are drainage and drain-pump faults causing leaks, and control or sensor faults, which need tracing through concealed components. Ducted faults are more involved than wall-split faults and need proper access above the ceiling.

York parts are available through the Johnson Controls network. Common wall-split parts are obtainable, but parts for ducted, cassette and older or commercial York systems can have longer lead times than the mass-market Japanese brands, so a ducted repair may need a part ordered in. York warranty terms vary by system type, with commercial and ducted systems often on different terms from residential wall splits. For wall splits the same sizing applies: 1.0HP up to about 150 sq ft, 1.5HP around 150 to 250, 2.0HP around 250 to 400, 2.5HP around 400 to 550. York's residential inverter range is smaller than the Japanese brands. For ducted systems, sizing and zoning are a design matter rather than a single HP figure, and we assess the whole system. If you are choosing a new wall split for a home, the Japanese brands usually offer a wider inverter range and easier parts; York makes more sense where you already run its ducted or commercial equipment.
