It costs noticeably less upfront than Daikin or Panasonic. The trade-off is more variable build consistency and a service experience that depends more on the installer. Parts are cheap and widely available. For a rental unit, a low-use room or a budget-conscious install, Midea is a rational choice; for a unit you need trouble-free for ten years, the Japanese brands are the safer bet.

On Midea units we more often see earlier electronic faults, control board and fan motor issues, and gas leaks at the flare joints, sometimes from the original install rather than the unit itself. Drainage and capacitor faults appear in the normal pattern.
